Description
As a UC Berkeley graduate with a BA in music, and an actively performing musician, playing a minimum of 20, 3 hour shows a week in New Orleans, I am uniquely qualified to perform in a wide variety of settings. Through my education, I became proficient in reading lead sheets, chord charts and traditional drum charts. This means that, as a drummer, I am able to familiarize myself with all aspects of a song, the melodic, harmonic and rhythmic components, quickly. I have experience with both driving and flying tours, meaning that I am accustomed to the stresses of traveling all day and then perfor
... ming a high quality show without loosing my focus or congeniality. Additionally, I have been living and performing in New Orleans for the last four years, sometimes playing as much as 9 hours of music (3, 3 hour sets) in one day. I have performed in a wide variety of styles such as: original Americana, both original brass band and New Orleans style brass band music, traditional jazz, swing era jazz, bop, choro, samba, blues, rnb, punk, indie, pop and free improvisation. I am a quick learner who plays with big ears, an open heart, some traditional education and a lot of love.
Thank you for taking some time to learn a little bit about me. I hope we can work together soon.
Experience
I began performing professionally at 18, playing with a Sonoma County singer-songwriter, David Luning. Through this act, I began meeting more songwriters around the county, eventually beginning a multi-year relationship with the band Frankie Boots and the County Line. We performed extensively throughout California and Oregon, touring to New Orleans in 2013 and recording an album, Leave the Light On, at Frogville Studios in Santa Fe, along the way. Additionally, I was performing regularly with multiple other projects, notably the marching band Church, who toured to the Honk Festivals in Seattle ... , Boston, New York and Rhode Island. I have traveled with a rock group, Midori and Ezra boy to Montreal for a music showcase around 2010, performed countless house shows and recorded an album with a long time project, Rags, toured with the Flynn Creek Circus for two seasons as the resident drummer and crew member, and currently live and perform in New Orleans. I regularly perform in the French Quarter, playing a mix of New Orleans tunes (Bill Baily, Muskrat Ramble, Algiers Stomp), Brazilian music (Feira de Mangaio, Tico Tico, Brazil) and many other styles.
