Biography

The Unusualist is the alter-ego of British television presenter Jez Rose.
A professional magician for over 20 years, he’s spent most of that time trying not to use the word “magician”.
Disliking the tendency for magic to be perceived as naff, The Unusualist presents a charming and fun style, that remains highly engaging and entertaining whilst being just the right amount of unusual - perfect for audiences who have seen it all.
It has made him in demand from Monaco to Barcelona, and from London to New York, with clients reading like a Who’s Who of the stage, screen, music and ... social scenes.
An award-winning writer, his articles for both magicians and the public have appeared in a diverse range of publications including The Magic Circular (the members’ magazine of The Magic Circle); The Stage newspaper; The Independent and CNN.com.
In 2018 he was invited to perform at The Royal Variety Show after-show party. That same year he created the Monthly Member’s Magic Night at Ned’s Club, the private members club of The Ned hotel, London.
With more than 100 appearances on television, including as the first magician to present hidden camera magic on TV, he has been featured on shows including The Discovery Channel (Xtraordinary People); ITV1 (Jez Rose: All In Your Mind); Trouble TV (Playing Tricks) and Channel 4 (Melinda Messenger’s Loose Lips).
He is a member of The Magic Castle in Hollywood; The Magic Circle in London, The International Brotherhood of Magicians, and an official magician of Breathe Magic, a therapy programme for people with mental and physical health challenges. Read More
