Contemporary Music, Funk, Pop, Soul, with a Latin twist. Performing as an Acoustic Duo/ Trio, or a 4 / 5 piece Electric Band.
Band formed January 2014.
Born out of Kay Corominas, a singer/guitarist & songwriter that had just arrived from Spain, linking up with the english session musician guitarist Glenn Johnson.
We are now a very multicultural Latin inspired live band based in Midlands, with members from Spain, Italy and UK, performing a very eclectic mixture of covers with our very own twist as a duo, trio or 4 or 5 piece. Vocals, Guitars, Drums, Sax and Keyboards is our full line ... up.
Latin music, Funk, Soul and Pop, absolutely perfect to bring the summer vibe and the dancing to the dancefloor!
The repertoire is eclectic to say the least covering classic crooner acts such as Frank Sinatra, rock legends such as Eric Clapton and even manage to cover various artists like Jamiroqui, Gloria Estefan, Michael Jackson, Santana or Bob Marley, all with their own unique twist. Read More

Biography

Spanish singer Kay Corominas arrived in the UK at the end of 2012. After a period of settling in and getting accustomed to the new environment she started attending several open mic nights in and around the Derby area and meeting other local musicians. It was at the end of 2013 when she met the guitarist Glenn Johnson who proposed the idea of starting a new contemporary music project – one with a Latin twist. He also had in mind to enlist another person who would complete the core unit of the Sugar Tree – the Jamaican born bassist Andy B.
Andy and Glenn had played together in many prev ... ious musical projects so they knew that their musical styles would gel very well. Both of them have extensive and eclectic musical experience playing everything from gospel to heavy metal, soul to jazz, funk to rock. During their first rehearsal with Kay in January 2014 it became clear that there was a great deal of potential. Experience

This band started 5 years ago, but all the musicians in The Sugar Tree have bast experience on their own before joinning the band.
The Sugar Tree plays regularly every week all around UK, covering all sorts of parties and events, but also holding regular spots in local venues.
