As well as this he is capable of melting into the background to set the perfect ambiance for any occasion, seamlessly incorporating Jazz, Contemporary Classical, and Pop into his sets.
Shahen is also happy to work with clients ahead of events to ensure everything is perfect. H ... e will take specific requests and even produce bespoke arrangements of particularly special songs for your event.

He played recently at my brother's wedding and everyone was raving about him . Shahen did an amazing job and I couldn’t recommend him more. One of the games we played relied on him randomly coming up with songs and he was genuinely so quick and had such a variety of songs and genres off the top of his head that it made for an excellent bit of entertainment. He was the perfect soundtrack to an amazing evening! If I ever got married I’d be contacting him to come play!

Shahen played the Piano at my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. It was a private event for 40 guests. I requested Shahen to include Sinhala and English tunes from my parent's era. Additionally, I wanted him to ensure that the music was not overpowering and would contribute to the ambiance. He accommodated all of my requests. Shahen played skillfully, and I can confidently say that the main attraction of the event was his piano music, which added a classical touch. Many of my guests commented on the music and were extremely pleased with their overall experience. I would highly recommend Shahen to anyone for his ability to cater to any audience, his skill and quality of playing, and his flexibility to perform at any type of event.

Lobby Sapphyr Lounge - beautiful deco, stylish interior, gorgeous floral arrangements and stunning crystal chandelier - an excellent relaxing place for enjoying the High Tea and simply listen to a music. Sapphyr Lounge offers a perfect ambiance of entertaining. Shangrila hotel lounge pianist Shahen is a talented young artist who is playing creative interpretations from Luis Armstrong and Jerry Lewis to Elton John and Beyoncé. People in the Lobby Lounge are happy to listen to his fantastic piano improvisations. All staff is very friendly and helpful. We always received an extremely attentive service from Gayan and Janani. And we always come back!

Shahen Thilakaratne is an international pianist, music producer, music teacher, and entrepreneur who launched Pianoforte Institute in 2018. With an extensive range of experience, Shahen brings his love and passion for music into his own unique arrangements of popular hits, proven to keep any listener hanging on the tip of his fingers. His dream of utilizing his talent expertise to part his knowledge and techniques to groom aspiring musicians in Sri Lanka was what inspired her to be a piano teacher and launch Pianoforte Institute.

Pianoforte Institute primarily offers Piano lessons and vocal training for aspiring musicians of all ages. The Institute focuses on all aspects of Performance such as Piano technique, Intonation, vocal projection, vocal range, pitching as well as breathing techniques, and stage performing.

The school offers students both individual or group lessons in all styles of piano playing from the foundation of music theory, aural skills, and building stage confidence. The school emphasizes collaborative performance by providing students with many opportunities to participate in bands and various other ensembles. Group classes are organized in small batches to ensure greater interactivity and individual attention.

Conveniently located in Moratuwa, Pianoforte is a modern academy that is characterized by its friendly ambiance that complements student's coaching sessions to be enjoyable. Pianoforte is equipped with practicing rooms, including studio facilities for professional recording sessions with free Wi-Fi. All our piano training sessions are offered personally by Shahen Thilakaratne.
