Romance in Durango are a versatile, stylish musical duo from the heart of the North of England, made up of Sophie Golby and Jack Littler. Sophie brings the staggeringly powerful and soulful lead vocal performance, whilst Jack provides funky rhythm guitar and unique lead parts. Depending on the event, Sophie also supports on keyboard, guitar or bass guitar whilst Jack provides harmonious backing vocals to create more variety in their sets. The duo also perform to backing tracks to further expand their sound and create a real party atmosphere.
Taking inspiration from the nostalgic, eclectic mus ... ic that built each of them as artists, the pair cover tracks from the classics of the 50's to the Top 40 hits of the present day, all in their very own folk-funk style. Some of their influences include Aretha Franklin, Chic, and Bob Dylan. They have an admiration for 70's funk and soul that saturates all of their performances, infusing their sleek, modern style with a warm, inviting nostalgia.
They also write, record, mix and produce all of their own music, with new releases on all popular streaming platforms - further showcasing their versatility, creative output and love for their craft.
Romance in Durango have performed at countless private events: including birthdays, receptions, and Christmas / New Years parties at luxury hotels and restaurants around the UK. They have performed multiple support slots across the UK - including opening for folk legend Beans on Toast, established cult icons Stafford Gali, and UK Number 1 indie artist, Skinny Living.
They have given performances at numerous notable venues including the famous Mulligans Irish Bar in Manchester; The Northern Social in Pontefract - a creative, community led hub of talent; and appear regularly at Rita’s Bar, an exciting new venue in the centre of Leeds, accruing a wide and varied fanbase across the North of the UK. Most recently the pair have just completed a contract onboard P&O's cruise ship, Iona, as a guest entertainment Duo.
A proven crowd pleaser, boasting over 350 songs in their repertoire, the duo take requests and are sure to please all ears with their eclectic song lists and folk-funk flare. Not only this, but Romance in Durango also bring to their encapsulating performances their engaging and playful personalities. They play off each other with charismatic ease; the pair are sure to leave lasting memories with any crowd they interact with.
No matter what the event, whether it is an acoustic lounge set during dinner, or a deck stage party night full of sing along anthems, Romance in Durango can provide the atmosphere you’re looking for.
We are available to start immediately, with valid passports, US visas, STCW and safety certificates. We have both worked on cruise lines separately and therefore both have extensive experience of ship life.
