Talented band with energetic and compelling performances of salsa and other Latin music. Including live piano, percussion and singing. Dance, laugh and enjoy compelling salsa and timeless classics. Rincon Caribe offers semi-live performances with a trio (3 members) and fully live shows starting from five performers. The full band lineup, complete with brass instruments, additional percussion, and backing vocals, consists of 12 talented musicians.
The trio formation consists of:
1. Ruben Alken (Suriname) – Band Leader, Pianist, and Vocalist
With over 45 years of experience, Ruben ... is a seasoned musician and the visionary behind Rincon Caribeño. He has performed in various bands, including The Master Blasters and Torarica Combo, and continues to shape the group’s unique sound.

2. Alina Sanchez (Cuba) – Lead Vocalist
Known as Negrita Rumbera, Alina is a captivating singer with 40 years of professional experience. A former soloist in Cuba's top musical ensembles, she has graced national TV and international stages in the Dominican Republic, France, and beyond.

3. Librado Nuñez Rodriguez (Cuba) – All-Round Percussionist

Meet the Act

Music and entertainment have always been the heartbeat of my life, shaping who I am and guiding me on this incredible journey. My passion for creating joy and connecting with people through music is what truly makes me come alive, and I’d love to share a bit of my story with you.
I’ve worn many hats throughout my life—each one enriching my skills and perspectives. In the 1980s, I began as a teacher in electrical engineering, igniting a love for sharing knowledge. Later, I pivoted to become an IT consultant, where problem-solving and teamwork were my bread and butter. But my adventurou ... s spirit soon led me underwater, becoming an active PADI dive instructor in the Netherlands. That chapter taught me the value of trust, communication, and exploring the depths of both oceans and human connections.
Eventually, my entrepreneurial side took center stage as I ran an entertainment and travel agency, Dreamislands Diving Tours & Travel, for eight wonderful years. It was a blend of my love for organizing unforgettable experiences and sharing them with others—a passion I still carry into my musical career today.
Music has always been my true calling. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of performing in various bands as a pianist/keyboardist, vocalist, bassist, and percussionist. My repertoire spans genres like R&B, reggae, soul, world music, pop, and more, and I’ve even had the honor of leading bands as a bandleader. I’m also no stranger to the technical side of entertainment, with expertise in sound and stage technology, and I manage my own PA system for gigs—sometimes lending it out to support other bands in small venues.
Behind the scenes, I love working with tools like Logic Pro for music production and video editing, blending creativity with technology to bring projects to life.

- I thrive on making people happy. Seeing someone smile because of a song I played or a moment I helped create is what drives me.
- My diverse experiences—from teaching to diving to running a business—have given me a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
- I find inspiration everywhere, and I never stop learning. Whether it’s perfecting a new piece of music or diving into a fresh creative project, I’m always seeking growth.
Looking ahead:

Starting December 2024, I am diving full-time into music and entertainment. Performing daily and sharing my passion for music on a cruise ship feels like the perfect next chapter.
