Biography

Michelle Brooks-Thompson is an International award-winning Independent Recording Artist, who is a former finalist of NBC’s the Voice (Season 3) and is the 2017 winner of the famous legendary Amateur Night at the Apollo (New York).
Since competing on The Voice & winning Amateur Night at the Apollo, Michelle’s versatile & phenomenal singing ability has privileged her to grace a multitude of diverse musical platforms across the country. She has become known by all as a dynamic powerhouse vocalist! As quoted by Maroon 5’s front man and NBC’s the Voice vocal coach Adam Levine, Michelle has ... been gifted with a “supernatural singing ability.” Michelle’s vocal tone and power is highly compared to the late musical icon, Whitney Houston. She has often been referred to the “Whitney Houston of Gospel music.” As an Independent Recording Artist, Michelle has consistently performed at various indoor and outdoor concert venues, sporting events, private functions, and on notable national TV programs such as Dr. Bobby Jones Presents (Impact Network), TBN’s Praise the Lord, the Bishop Eric Lloyd Show (Rhema Network) and more. The vocal sensation has shared the stage with Grammy and Stellar Award-winning Gospel and Secular artists such as Donnie McClurkin, James Fortune, Shana Wilson, Zacardi Cortez, O-Town, LFO, Louie Bello, Americas Got Talent Sons of Serendip, the Craig Lewis Band, American Idol’s Malinda Doolittle, NBC’s The Voice Noah Liz, and others. It is her extraordinary voice and striking presence that has captivated audiences, making her rich vocals synonymous with delivering the National Anthem as well as God Bless America at countless major sporting events for the NBA, NFL, MLS, NHL, and MLB! In June 2021, she was the winner of the NCAA College Baseball World Series National Anthem singer competition. She has performed at professional sporting games and prestigious events including the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, New England Revolution, Kansas City Chiefs, Springfield Thunderbirds, 2023 Boston Marathon, 2023 NFL AFC Game, Game 3 of the 2022 NBA Finals, Game 1 of the 2018 MLB World Series, TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl (2021), Dukes Mayo Bowl (2021), Boston Symphony Orchestra (Boston Pops), MLB Wild Card, ALDS, and ALCS games (2021), NFL AFC game (2014), Massachusetts Democratic National Convention, Annual Travis Manion Foundation Gala, and many more. Michelle released her official recorded version of the US National Anthem in July 2021 which has reached over 105k streams.
Michelle’s latest music projects which include the singles “Never Give Up” (2022) and “Woman First” (2021), have charted consecutively on the music Billboards (Adult R&B Top 100 Chart, Gospel Top 50 Internet Radio Chart #3, Smooth Jazz Top 100 Chart, Billboard National Airplay Chart #131, and Billboard Gospel Indicator Most Added Chart). Both singles “Woman First” and “Live It Up” (2021) charted on the Top 30 UK Soul Top 30, UK Chart Breakers #1, Brazil iTunes R&B Top 100, Grenada Top 100 music chart, and more. Her single “Woman First” has led to 4 award nominations with Kingdom Sound Radio Broadcast in 2022 including Most Impact Artist of The Year, Female Artist of the Year, Female Urban Artist of The Year, and Inspirational Artist of The Year.
Michelle released her first Inspirational EP in 2015 entitled “My Life’s Testimony’’ featuring her single, “When I Think.” The EP featured smoothed sounds infused with Gospel, Jazz, and R&B elements. Her EP ultimately led to three award nominations in the 2016 Rhythm of Gospel Awards, an Independent Gospel Artist Music Awards platform. In August 2017, she released her second independent single titled “I Am Triumphant," which was instantly added to 60+ US and International radio stations. Michelle’s single debuted on the national BDS reporting charts for Gospel Music as “Most Added Song” in September 2017. In 2018 Michelle was a 4x nominee in the Season 11 Prayze Factor Awards and won Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year.
