STAGE/CABARET MAGIC SHOWS:
Matthew's magic shows are customized to the event, venue, audience size, etc. They involve amazing mentalism and mind reading, unforgettable magic props, and many hilarious and magic surprises! Depending on the venue/event, show typically include the set-up of a mini-theater, including pipe and drape theater curtains, banners, a Bose P.A. system with wireless mic., and all necessary tables and supplies. All shows include audience participation and create long-lasting memories for your guests!
STROLLING MAGIC:
Strolling Magic, AKA "Mingle Magic", "Roaming Magic ... ", "Roving Magic", and "Walk Around Magic": Matthew roams around the party performing card magic, coin effects, sleight of hand, mind reading, and mentalism. It's a great addition to large groups like corporate events, mixers, weddings, restaurants, and holiday parties. Strolling magic helps "break the ice" for clients, business prospects, new friends, employees, and co-workers.
CLOSE-UP MAGIC:
A close-up magic show is similar to strolling magic, except that the magic is performed for a smaller audience all at once, oftentimes sitting around a table. It involves magic commonly used in strolling, plus a few other magic effects that are too cumbersome for a pocket. This is most commonly booked for groups of 10-15 people and smaller dinner parties.
PARLOR MAGIC:
Parlor magic is also commonly called "Stand-up Magic", or "Living Room Magic". Matthew's Parlor Magic involves some magic props, close-up magic, and unforgettable mind reading. It's a magic show on a smaller scale, without the full stage and curtain set-up. Most commonly booked for smaller groups, business meetings, smaller company parties.
MIND READING/MENTALISM:
Matthew King's mind reading will make you and your guests believe he might REALLY HAVE the special gift! Biography

I was amazed by a magic effect at age 7, and it intrigued me that it was possible to create a different aspect of reality for people. I received my first magic kit at age 7 and started saving my errand money, mowed lawns, and I worked hard to invest in my magic knowledge and illusions at a young age. My first paid performance was at age 12 and, by age 17, I had put together a stellar act with grand illusions, assistants, doves, and visual magic. Acting Experience

Matthew's interest in acting was sparked when was cast as an Extra in the 2005 film "Coach Carter" starring Samuel L. Jackson. He was later cast as an actor in a 2007 infomercial for "The Wizard", a wireless cell phone battery charging device, but the product did not make it to market. This interest in acting was reignited by his 2024 appearance on the hit CBS TV show "Let's Make a Deal", where he impressed Host Wayne Brady, and the live audience, by making a "Zonk" (known as an undesirable prize) disappear.

Meet the Act

Matthew King is an American magician, actor, and producer. He was born among the agricultural landscapes of California's Central Valley, in the town of Hanford, California, to Elizabeth (Morris) and Timothy King, a grocery manager. He has an older brother, Jason, a younger brother, Kevin, and a daughter, Ava.
Matthew's first professional magic performance was at the age of 12. By age 17, in the year 2000, Matthew was accepted into the "Junior Society" of "The Academy of Magical Arts" in Hollywood, CA (also referred to as "The Magic Castle") after he auditioned with a magic act that involve ... d a grand illusion called "Cutting a Woman in Sixths". Just prior to graduating high school, Matthew was hired by an entertainment production company and asked to relocate to New York immediately after graduating to work a season as the entertainment and stage crew at Rye Playland amusement park.
In late 2001, Matthew moved to San Diego, where he would cement his status in the magic community. He achieved the accolade of San Diego's "Performer of the Year" for three consecutive years - 2020, 2021, and 2022 - as voted by the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Matthew simultaneously pursued a career in law for 17 years, where he developed skills that later enhanced all his performances with a professional edge. In 2017, Matthew co-produced a stage show in San Diego called "The Mystic Playground" with Las Vegas magician Tim Wise, which was an immersive experience featuring artistic demonstrations, metaphysical exhibits, and a variety of stage performers including magicians, jugglers, and dancers.
With the birth of his daughter in 2006, who served as both an audience and an inspiration for his performances, Matthew balanced his family life with his burgeoning magic and legal careers. When his magic dominated his legal career in 2019, he quit working in law, and focused on magic. With his daughter reaching adulthood in 2024, Matthew became available for more demanding opportunities, including traveling for events.
His involvement with the Society of American Magicians, particularly the Paranormal Investigation Committee, and continued association with the International Brotherhood of Magicians, highlight his deep commitment to the art of magic.
