Meet the Act

Madelynn Welch is a dedicated and versatile dancer whose passion for the performing arts has been a defining force in her life. Raised in Lubbock, Texas, Madelynn began her dance training at the age of 10 at Dance Warehouse. There, she was introduced to a variety of dance styles, including jazz, hip hop, and contemporary, which would become the core of her training and technical experience. Even at a young age, she displayed a natural talent for picking up choreography quickly, constantly pushing herself to grow in both skill and artistry.
At the age of 13, Madelynn took a brief break from d ... ance to explore musical theatre at Hub Performing Arts School. There was had the opportunity to be featured in numerous musicals such as Flounder in The Little Mermaid and Marie in The Aristocats. This experience expanded her performance skills, giving her a deeper understanding of storytelling and stage presence, which would later enhance her dance performances. However, her love for dance remained strong, and she returned to training in 2015 at Revolution Elite Dance, where she focused on further developing her technique.
During high school, Madelynn was a founding member of Lubbock-Cooper High School’s first-ever dance team, where she danced all four years. Her dedication and hard work were consistently recognized, and she was awarded the title of "Hardest Worker" during her senior year. This award reflected her strong work ethic, discipline, and leadership qualities, which have continued to define her dance career.
in 2022, Madelynn took her passion for dance to the next level by enrolling at West Texas A&M University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance. Set to graduate in May 2025, her time at WT has been transformative. Each semester, she has had the opportunity to perform in a variety of productions, network with guest artists, and deepen her understanding of dance as both a performer and a choreographer. Her training at WT has allowed her to expand her range in various areas such as tap, ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz and hip-hop.
Madelynn's time at West Texas A&M has been marked by several achievements, including choreographing original works. Her group pieces, "Woven in Absence," the use of fabric as a powerful metaphor for connection and separation. In addition, her solo work, "Clarity," depicted a personal journey toward self-understanding and acceptance. These pieces not only showcased her technical abilities but also her capacity to create meaningful stories.
Looking to the future, Madelynn Welch is excited to continue growing as both a dancer and choreographer. She plans to pursue a Master of Fine Arts to deepen her skills and eventually become a professor at a university. In addition to her dance career, she dreams of opening her own dance clothing store, with the goal of helping create a more accepting creative community in her hometown. Through both her artistic pursuits and entrepreneurial vision, Madelynn aims to contribute to the growth of the arts and inspire others to embrace their creative side.
