Biography

I started singing in my bedroom behind the mirror with a brush in my hand. Mariah Carey and Celine Dion were my favorites back then. They were so skilled and ofcourse I learned all the riffs with hand in the sky :-) Besides that, my fathers side of the family brought in the love for the 50s and 60s soul music.
After a lot of singing lessons, talent contests at school and in Haarlem and Amsterdam, I joined a band. That is when I got in contact with jazz and blues singers and started to sing more jazz, blues and soul. Loved it. After that period many bands and formations followed, and ofcourse ... more lessons and workshops, till I created my own six piece band Swing & Tell. A more theatrical 50s and 60s band. When there was space I told stories about the songs and the artists behind it. You can see a video of it on my profile. Three years later, after lots of learning and fun, we decided to go our own ways.
To get more in touch with the roots of the music I went to New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Nashville and Memphis. Learned more about the artists and their music, visited the studios and sang at all kinds of stages during the trip. It was magical. Now I play with different formations; solo, duo and trio. The whole journey till now gave me a lot of experience in performing, working with other musicians, promoting and arranging my own gigs. My other work in the hospitality and welfare organizations helped me to be a skilled communicator and a very social person, who can handle every situation. Read More
