Description

Brit-pop meets bebop in creative mashups of familiar tunes, all re-cast in the style of the best-selling jazz album ever - Miles Davis’ Kind Of Blue. Setlists can include songs from Blur to Kylie Minogue via Chumbawamba and The Eurythmics. With the occasional Disney tune thrown in for good measure, the talented quintet takes each song on a journey into A Whole New World.

This group's music is cleverly arranged and beautifully presented. Their recent performance at the Barn theatre in Welwyn Garden City was captivating with subtle arrangements using occasional horns, sensitive vocals and a level of professionalism that others strive to achieve. This quintet is ahead of the game and an act not to miss.

It was truly a treat watching this very clever, refreshing & innovative band. Their jazzy renditions of a mix of various pop & movie classics (& one classical piece) were executed with incredible charm & a believable authenticity. Wonderfully surprised as to how pleasantly uncontrived they delivered their interpretations. I'm greatly looking forward to future additions to their repertoire!

I LOVED the Kind of Blur Christmas gig. All the arrangements were so clever, reinventing familiar songs in a whole new way... it was delightful. Each of the instrumentalists were excellent, and I really loved the singer/piano player, whose interpretations of the arrangements fitted the vibe perfectly. It was laid back, fun, entertaining, quality music-making. Well done Kind of Blur!

Experience

Kind of Blur's line-up contains some of the most experienced musicians around. Between them they've written and performed music for the BBC, played at the O2 Arena and the Albert Hall, and toured extensively. MD Paul Arnold has returned to his musical roots following his multi-award-winning work as a radio producer, and now brings that same attention to detail and passion for his work to making every event be the best it can be.
