Description

I play sets of 45min to an hour. I sing and accompany myself with either piano or guitar. I play a lot of well known songs that will get people vibing and I can cater to many different styles - Jazz, pop, rock, alternative, and even opera.
For an extra cost, I can also bring my drummer with me, which makes the music even more danceable!

Biography

Katy Hallauer is a 22 year old musician and songwriter who has just finished her degree in opera at the University of Cape Town. She plays piano, guitar and ukulele and has released an EP and 2 albums of original songs.
Growing up with a passion for singing, she learnt how to accompany herself on guitar and piano from a young age, drawing on her inspirations such as Freddie Mercury and Elton John.

Meet the Act

I’ve had a passion for music since I was a child. I always knew it was what I wanted to do. I was a very shy kid and performing was the one place where I was never shy or scared - I always felt I could be myself. I began acting and singing lessons, and soon took up guitar and piano as well.
As a teenager, I began writing songs and recording them on my tablet, with a tiny microphone attached to my earphones. The microphone quality wasn’t great, but it’s surprising how much you can do with just a tablet and an earphone mic. I started recording covers and posting them on a Youtube chann ... el.
As time went on, I started understanding a lot more about recording and eventually got a laptop and microphone. As soon as I got my hands on those, I knew I was going to record and release my music, which is how I have an EP and 2 albums today. I record all my music in my little home studio.
When COVID hit in 2020, it was an extremely lonely time as a performer. I was finally an adult in university, but I couldn’t go to university and I couldn’t perform. So, I discovered a website called Twitch, and began playing virtual concerts on there to people all around the world. I built up a lovely community of friends and fans who I still interact with today.
Today, I love to play music that people enjoy. Looking in a crowd and even seeing one person humming or singing along fills me up with joy, but it’s an incredibly special feeling when you get a whole crowd singing along with you.
