Biography

A well-trained classical pianist who is a scholar of the Philippine High School for the Arts and a Rector's scholar at the University of Santo Tomas, graduating in Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. She obtained a scholarship for further studies at the prestigious Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, Germany. These studies led her to work for the Streetmosphere Shows of the Venetian Hotel Macao for four years. Being a truly committed artist, she branched out to play several other musical genres like pop, broadway, standards and performs as a lounge pianist at the Four Seasons Hotel M ... acao, Conrad Hotel Macao, Manila Hotel, City of Dreams Manila, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila among others. She then frequently performs at the Malacañang Palace, the official residence and workplace of the Philippine President. She plays the piano with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra as program musician, Philippine Pops Orchestra and the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra. She collaborated with the renowned Little Singers of Paris, worked as a Deputy Pianist and Repetiteur of 9 Works Theatrical's Tick, Tick... Boom and Rent musical. Swiss-based pianist Charisse Dumlao collaborated with her and launched the first Philippine tour of Musica Para Cuatro Manos.

But it's the sight of many Pinoys working in Cotai that amazes us. At the center of Shoppes at Venetian - the mall whose ceiling creates an illusion of blue sky and clouds - sits a Filipino musician, Karla Diño, who plays the piano.

There's a coffee shop called Cafè Society, where one can enjoy tuna or salmon panini while Karla Diño plays on a baby grand. Turns out that she's the same lady who used to play the keyboards at Venetian Macao.
