I’m a saxophonist originally from the Chicago area. I got my start in the blues scene outside of school and went on to pursue a degree in music business with a minor in jazz performance. I started working professionally in bands in the area and soon after graduation, I took my talents to the high seas working on cruise ships.
In Chicago I was a part of a 14 piece horn rock band with a wide repertoire ranging from horn driven charts (Joe Cocker, Chicago, Tower of Power, etc) 80’s rock and popular contemporary music.
... With Carnival Cruise I performed in Latin, jazz and rock bands performing music like Motown, disco, pop, 80’s, country, rock and more. Lots of variety to appeal to our guests.
Lastly, I performed with the BB King All Stars. We weren’t provided charts so we transcribed everything from the original records by ear. Blues, Memphis soul music and contemporary artists like Bruno Mars, Pharrell, Robin Thicke, Daft Punk and more.
With every piece of music that I’ve performed, I’ve also had to study the music to a high degree. Whether it was in transcribing jazz solos, transcribing music by ear without sheet music, or studying genres/bands/solos/styles for accuracy.
