Keyboard - Vocals. Guitar ( acoustic or electric)- vocals. Piano - vocals
1986 - 2000
Member of ACADEMY quartet. Dance band with 4 vocals ( guitar, bass, keys and drums)
Top quality quartet performing at numerous West End functions. ( Hilton on Park Lane,
Dorchester, Claridges , The Savoy, Inn on the Park ). Contemporary chart and general dance music.
Resident band at La Manga Club, Spain. 1987
Performed at Hunt Balls, private parties and corporate events.
Academy ... Bandleader on QE11 World Cruise 1991. Other cruise contracts included Cunard Countess and Cunard Princess.
I also worked as an agent for Garry Brown Associates ( GBA Ltd) . The company was sole entertainment agent for Cunard and advisor to the Hilton Group of Hotels. I was responsible for finding and auditioning artistes and advising management on contractual matters.
2000 - 2002
relocated to Costa del Sol, Spain. Joined quartet playing party music for ex Pats in bars and chiringuitos along the coast.
2002 to present
Solo keyboard / guitar vocals specialising in performing to older audiences in a variety of venues.
Hobbies: working out, tennis, walking, travel and meeting people.

Well done – what a star you are! What a wonderful review 😊 “Good morning all, We had the lovely John Cheney entertain us at Westlake House, Horsham yesterday. It was a lovely afternoon and we all had a wonderful time! Great choice of songs and compilations which were very appropriate for the audience! One particular gentleman who would normally just quietly observe, sang along to all the songs, which was very special for us! He commented that you could have a 17 piece band that wouldn't sound as good as John! He was quite disappointed when the music finished, so John kindly did another one for him. Complimentary comments received from residents and staff on John's performance. Thank you John and thank you Mack for arranging this on another of our short notice requests!
