I am a lounge pianist and singer. I perform jazz piano for hours on end, with vocals or without. I also like to play standard songs.
Description
I can perform improvisational jazz piano for hours on end. I am a highly trained and fluid jazz pianist, particularly in improvisation. This means that, while your guests are relaxing and enjoying themselves, I am in the moment with them. I stay in the moment of the room and translate that energy directly into my playing. Most of the time, as a lounge pianist, I perform lightly. When needed, I make the sound come alive. I always aim to create a pleasant atmosphere. Also, I am able to sing well, and have a repertoire of standard tunes to perform. As a learner, I am quick, and would be h ... appy to learn any songs necessary for a particular environment. My presence behind a piano is warm and inviting. I am happy to engage with patrons when appropriate. I always desire to please my audience.

Biography
I started studying music at age 9. At 13 I submitted an original piece of piano music called 'Shooting Star' to the Delaware Valley Philharmonic Orchestra, and it was chosen to be arranged and performed by the orchestra. After studying Music and Psychology at PSU, I moved to Portland, Orergon, where I have since been performing with various groups as a pianist and vocalist. My recordings (submitted to this site) display my 'indie' side, while my real capabilities are highly diverse. My truest passion lies in exploring the wonderful dimensions of real-time piano performance; I like to feel o ... ut the room and deliver what's aurally appropriate. This method of improvisational delivery can be extraordinarily influential over an audience, even if the mood is light. I feel that what sets myself apart is my ability to tune in to a crowd, and into the moment.

Exceptional. Jay arrived and knew how to soothe. He kept the music interesting and not too overbearing. His manner is gentle and he was a real pleasure to work with. Could not have asked for a better lounge pianist!
Experience
I have had a standard solo residency at Portland's Premier Art Gallery (bi-monthly). I have solo piano performed for anniversary parties, various pubs and dinner establishments, and with others in bands at a variety of gatherings.
