Biography
Hello! My name is Jay Gregg, I am 22 years old and recently moved to Mishawaka, IN. Growing up, I fell in love with chamber music after participating in the CSYSA, Woodrose, Manitou, and Fry Street Chamber Music Programs. I continued to make chamber music at the Masterworks Festival and Wheaton College Chamber Music Program. Throughout high school and college, I competed in various competitions and have been awarded three prizes in the Young Artist Solo Competition, received an honorable mention from the Loveland Orchestra, received the first prize in the Pikes Peak Philharmonic Youth Concerto ... Competition, first prize in the Wheaton College Concerto Competition string division, and first prize in the Wheaton College Chamber Music Competition. I have served as principal cellist in the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony (CO), Colorado All-State Orchestra (CO), Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra (IL), and Masterworks Festival (SC). I graduated from Wheaton College in May with a Bachelor's degree in cello performance and a minor in social work. I currently work for the Department of Child Services in Elkhart, IN as a family case manager and serve as associate principal of the LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra and as an associate member with Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
Experience
Have additional experience with musical theatre pit orchestras along with some jazz and folk music. I am also a conductor, conducting several premiers of works and serving as the honors conductor of the Wheaton College Concert Choir for the 2023-2024 season.
