Biography

Jason Joi is a versatile vocalist illuminating the world stage. Originally from Virginia in The United States, Jason holds a Bachelor's of Music degree from James Madison University, and his work has taken him to over 50 countries globally. His notable performance roles include The Secret Silk by Broadway composer Stephen Schwartz, Big Band Beat at the Broadway Music Theatre in Tokyo, Scar in Festival of the Lion King, and Gaston in the 2022 IAAPA award winning show Let's Get Wicked at Hong Kong Disneyland. He has headlined the Disney Live! In Concert series, performed with Universal Studios, ... and sang at various esteemed venues throughout The United States such as The Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.) and The Wang Theatre (Boston, MA). Jason's digital footprint is significant, with single performances garnering over 250,000 views on YouTube alone, showcasing not only his singing, but also his speed-rapping talents and vocal arrangements.
He served as the music director and composer / arranger of the all-male a cappella group Exit 245, winning the U.S.A. Best Collegiate A Cappella Album Award for Boyfriend Material. His talents also extend to studio producing and voice-over acting, lending his voice to numerous Disney projects, animations, and original cast recordings. In November 2023, Jason sang amongst The Royal Choir of Arendelle for the internationally broadcasted grand opening ceremony of Disney's "World of Frozen" (the first ever theme park addition of its kind). Since then, he's offered headlining shows at several iconic Hong Kong venues such as the luxury restaurant Sevva, exclusive speakeasy Ella, well-renowned live music venue FoxGlove, and The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.
In July 2024, Jason headlined the members-only club Carlyle and Co., nestled atop the opulent Rosewood Hotel. His resident performances succeeded that of none other than Reuben James, a prominent figure in the Music Industry collaborating with arena filling superstars such as Sam Smith, Stormzy, Disclosure, and Herbie Hancock..amongst many others. I got started singing and acting in the church choir. We went on tour over the summer and I was blessed to play the role of Jesus in the production “Bow the Knee”. In high school I started off more focused on sports, but found music to be my true strength. I was ultimately drawn to performance and its collaborative nature, something that was already harmoniously spiritual for me. I then went on to study music in University, and the rest is as they say, history. I have a passion for traveling and experiencing the true food, culture, and people(over 50 countries!), playing American football ... and basketball, practicing martial arts, and relaxing in the sun by the water (on vocal rest!). I love recording and the idea of creating something that can last generations. I want to leave a lasting impact on not only my peers but also the children in the world, and I am immensely grateful to Disney and other previous companies for giving the opportunity to do so.
