Description

With a passion for hitting hard and a career spanning nearly two decades, I'm Jamie: a professional drummer based in Kent with my own fully equipped studio and touring equipment. While my speciality lies in rock and metal music, I’ve expanded my repertoire over the course of my career to include a diverse range of genres such as jazz, funk, hip-hop and pop. Alongside my freelance work as a musician, I’ve also been teaching drumming for over six years privately and at music schools.
I maintain a high quality, professional gigging setup (complete with microphones as needed) and also own a ... Yamaha DTX500K for electronic gigs. Drums are my passion and I've played for over twenty years. I teach, work and produce from my own professional studio and have toured and recorded extensively with a variety of bands and artists.
Notable examples include Novacaine Nothing, proxxy, Night Thieves, Immortal Machinery (with whom I have toured extensively across Europe), and The MLN Ensemble.
Currently, I work as a freelance musician and play for various projects in and around the South East, including Brad Pittance and The Pirates, The Nylon Tigers, Jonah’s Wail and Delbert Fandango & The Japanese Munchweeds (or The Munchweeds for short), and Jonah's Wail.
I’ve also played live for various hip-hop artists including Antlive, Ras Kass, and John Jigg$.
Alongside my freelance work, I'm also currently the house drummer for the often sold-out monthly jazz and funk jam night in High Wycombe known as Catch22 Jams, run by The MLN Ensemble, who also hire me to play the annual Wycombe Jazz Festival and High Wycombe’s FrogFEST. I’m always growing and playing a variety of styles and gigs, working professionally in the industry as well as teaching (I’m Enhanced DBS Verified).
The least notice I’ve ever had for a gig was roughly 48 hours… and I still pulled it off! My attitude is punctual, professional and thorough. I show up on time, look good, sound good, and with an excellent attitude. Whether it’s a loud and proud stadium rock show, a bouncy reggae gig at an outdoor festival, or a classy jazz and funk jam at a cocktail bar, I take my craft seriously and love what I do.

Biography

I’ve been teaching drums privately since 2018, catering to a diverse range of students aged 6 to 70. As an Enhanced DBS Verified instructor, I prioritise the safety and well-being of my students, and I’m happy to provide references upon request. Since 2023 I have had the privilege of teaching at two respected institutions: the prestigious YMS in Canterbury and Drumwise in Maidstone. As of June 2024 I also teach at The Rock Music School (also in Maidstone).
Throughout my teaching career, I’ve seen my students achieve remarkable success: some have excelled in graded exams, while others ... have pursued further education in music schools. Many students have joined bands or embarked on solo projects purely for the joy of playing and making music. As part of my comprehensive approach, I ensure that all students develop competent foundational skills in reading music effectively.
Drawing upon my extensive experience as a working musician, my lessons extend beyond drumming: I provide valuable insights into essential topics such as tuning, recording, group rehearsal and song-writing. By incorporating these aspects into my teaching, I equip my students with a well-rounded skill set that extends beyond just drumming proficiency.

Experience

My first ever professional release was in 2015 with metal band Novacaine Nothing, recorded at FloodGate Audio, followed by a single with tech-metal band proxxy in 2018.
In 2020 I recorded drums for rock band Night Thieves’ debut EP ‘Battle Cry’ at Stakeout Studios. That same year, I recorded drums for the talented duo Immortal Machinery at my own studio for their album Songs Without Words. In 2023 I then had the pleasure of recording drums for their latest album Kuzushi. I’ve also had some incredible experiences touring extensively with them across Europe. Recently, I’ve written ... and tracked drums for the American musician Brianne Bogle as well as English singer/songwriter Guy Prall. I’ve also played live for various hip-hop artists including Antlive, Ras Kass, and John Jigg$.

Acting Experience

I have a first-class degree in Drama & Theatre Studies from Royal Holloway University of London. My original aspiration was to become a professional actor, but then drumming took over!
