Biography
Dimitris Miaris, born in Nicosia in 1991, began playing classical piano at the age of six and developed a passion for jazz at sixteen through the “Jazz Futures” workshops in Nicosia, engaging with notable musicians such as Sacha Perry, Vahagn Hayrapetyan, Ari Roland, Zaid Nasser, Pasquale Grasso, Keith Balla, George Floudas, John Mosca, Leroy Williams, Yaala Ballin, Stefan Schatz, Ofer Landsberg, and Chris Byars. He participated in almost all the “Jazz Futures” workshops from 2007 until 2013 and has performed in Cyprus, Greece, England, and the Netherlands. Dimitris also attended month ... ly Bicommunal Workshops with Charis Ioannou and participated in Dr. Barry Harris’ workshops in Rome in 2011, 2012, and 2018. He received his Bachelor and Integrated Master Degree in Jazz Piano from Ionian University's Jazz Department in 2014 under the instruction of George Kontrafouris. Dimitris is performing at Kanika hotels since 2018 and at weddings around the island since 2015. Dimitris has performed at various festivals, including the Kypria International Festival, Tinos Jazz Festival, Axiothea Festival at the University of Cyprus, and Technopolis Athens Festival. With the band BopCy, he won 2nd place at the first Greek Jazz Competition in 2015. He has been teaching jazz piano since 2014 and worked as an accompanist at the European University from 2015 until 2020. Currently, he performs all over Cyprus with various bands.
