Biography

Singing since the age of 14 I decided to record myself singing on a two track, alongside my favourite Cliff records. I then decided to take my new found talent a step further and although still a bedroom singer took the opportunity to sing with a local church band where I found I reproduced the “Cliff sound” in whatever I sang.
After noticing an ad in the local paper scouting for a fresh new talent I successfully auditioned and signed a management contract with a local company.
Within one year I had generated the interest of Polygram Germany and Anglo Atlantic UK. During this period Mi ... ck Jackson (writer of Blame it on the Boogie) had written a song for him entitled 'Danny was a Winner' amongst many other demo's. The UK Company merged with Phantom Productions.
Everything from there happened so fast and a record deal was imminent.

Many months passed with no news, or work, until it emerged the manager of my UK based company had blown the deal.(for reasons known to themselves) At the tender age of 18 I had very quickly learnt how immoral and disheartening the music business could be. With the determination this would not be the end I formed a duo called 'Take Two'. This duo was extremely successful throughout the UK which showed my ground work and determination had paid off.
In 1992 'Take Two' became 'Never Say Die', this name seemed apt to my attitude towards the music business and with this name came an additional member to the group, My father Ernie White (Lead Guitarist).
After playing in many top venues my passion grew stronger and I longed to play within my own band, and so 'The Shadd's' was formed.
To me this band was "magical", successfully replicating the Cliff and the Shadows era for the next two years.
'The Shadd's' unfortunately came to an end in 1996 which didn’t deter me or my enthusiasm for the music. My Father Ernie and I went on to form 'Me and My Shadow' a name very fitting to the talent of this father and son duo.
1997-1998 was a very strong period for my singing career as I went from strength to strength. The time was extremely productive with regards to recording, performing and meeting many new faces within the music business. I appeared as Sir Cliff Richard on Stars in their Eyes in May 1997 followed by working within many theatre shows, meeting and working alongside celebrities like 'Wee Willie Harris, Carl Denver and Tommy Bruce'. Along the way I made some good friends and built strong relationships. It was this period that I met 'The Runaways', a well seasoned band who had been on the scene since 1982.
Danny and ‘The Runaways’ went on to work in many theatre shows and private functions together.
In 1999 a few rehearsals with Bruce Welch's band 'The Moonlight Shadows' saw me take to the stage at the Lakeside County Club with the band for a rendition of some classic Cliff hits which Bruce had inserted into his set, which went down really well. It was a great experience working with Bruce as he has a great ear for detail.
Two weeks later the request came for me to audition for Tim Whitnal's 'Harrys Web'.
I set off to London with 2 sheets of music, one of which was 'Miss you Nights' and after singing a dozen bars was offered the part of 'The Minstrel' (Cliff Richard).
Rehearsals for the musical commenced soon after, and then it was onto the Theatre Royal Windsor for a 6 week run of 8 shows a week. The show received great write ups and reviews locally.
In 2010 and after the successes of 'Harry’s Web' I took a well deserved rest from the circuit.
I began to hone my voice and started to record some tracks in the comfort of his own studio. My father and I began to rehearse our sets and get prepare our return to the music circuit.
And so in 2011 I returned to the scene as the voice of Sir Cliff Richard!!
Reforming the talent titled “Me And My Shadow” with my father and lead guitarist Ernie White
Adding further excitement in 2014 to Danny`s Cliff Tribute page... Me & My Shadow will be working on their first tribute album for 2015...!
May 2015 - Devil Women gets its debut on Cliff Richard Radio along with Blue Sky Blue Sea blue Me and Learning How To Rock n Roll. Big thanks to Paul Dyer at www.cliffrichardradio.co.nz for introducing the tracks and giving dad and myself a little segment on his popular show.
I am also enjoying the move from analogue to digital recording (yes...finally out of the stone age thanks to my pal Sean Clegg). I can say with fair safety I am enjoying being a Cliff Richard Tribute vocalist more and more as time goes on...still much to master (if that's possible).!!
