Originally from Northern Ireland, Danielle is a London based flute player and manages a busy performing career in both the UK and Ireland. She holds a Licentiate diploma in performance from ABRSM and completed her Master in Music Performance with distinction from the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where her principal teachers were William Dowdall and Patricia Morris (piccolo). She has also enjoyed masterclasses with Sir James Galway, William Bennett, Michael Cox and Lorna McGhee. Danielle has since worked as a freelance player with leading professional orchestras including the London Concert Orchestra, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Fulltone Orchestra, Mozart Symphony Orchestra and Wexford Festival Opera. She recorded on the orchestral version of the single ‘This Christmas’ by Irish pop band Picture This. As an orchestral musician she has performed in prestigious venues throughout the world, including Berlin Konzerthaus, Carnegie Hall New York, Cadogan Hall London and National Concert Hall Dublin. She has worked with conductors including Jaime Martin, Gerhard Markson, Richard Kaufman, Takuo Yuasa, Kenneth Montgomery, Gearoid Grant and David Brophy.
Danielle loves musical theatre and has played in pit orchestras for many productions over the last 15 years, doubling on alto saxophone and clarinet. She has worked for Peter Corry Productions, Youth Music Theatre UK, Belfast School of Performing Arts, Irish Musical Theatre Orchestra, Theatre at the Mill, Marketplace Theatre, Phoenix Players, Malahide Musical Society, Dun Laoghaire Musical Society and many others. She has played a huge variety of shows including Les Miserables, Westside Story, Evita, Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, Cats, Singin’ in the Rain, Jekyll and Hyde, Crazy for You, Made in Dagenham, All Shook Up, Kipps, Joseph, Grease, Oliver, Oklahoma, Calamity Jane, the Wizard of Oz, Pirates of Penzance and many others.
Danielle enjoys working on various chamber music projects and has recently performed in many solo recitals in London and Ireland, collaborating with pianists and other musicians. She is passionate about promoting the music of female composers in her concerts. She is a founding member of Euterpe Wind Quintet, who were selected as ‘Ensemble of the Year 2018-19’ by the Galway Music Residency. They have performed recitals for BBC Music Day and Music for Wexford, and received masterclasses from Con Tempo Quartet and Sir James Galway. In 2008 Danielle was awarded the ‘Sam Mahood’ bursary by Banbridge District Arts Council. She is grateful for the support of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, who awarded her the ‘Musical Instruments for Individuals’ grant in 2020.
Danielle has been an active teacher since 2011, when she graduated with distinction in her PGCE in Specialist Instrumental Teaching from the Royal Northern College of Music. She has worked for the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Education Authority of Northern Ireland and Music Generation. She currently works for Lambeth Music Service and Muswell Young Musicians in London. Danielle is also a member of the World Harmony Orchestra and performs for residents of care homes in her local community.
