Biography

Christos I Kladas was born and raised in Ilioupolis(Athens-Greece), on October 10, 1969. He began to play saxophone at the age of 16, in the local brass band. Very soon he began to perform with various rock, blues, and soul bands. He studied classic harmony in Athens and jazz theory and saxophone at the Jazz Schule Bern in Switzerland. From 1995 to 1997 he served the Greek Army as a military musician. After completing his military service, he moved back to Switzerland, where he continued his studies in jazz saxophone a ... nd Musicpedagogics at the Music Hochschule Basel.
In 2003 he returned to Greece and took over - as head - the Modern Department of the National Conservatory branch in Cholargos (Athens), where he taught saxophone and theory. Since 2007 he has collaborated as a teacher of saxophone and music ensembles with the Ilioupolis branch.
In 2009 he recorded his first jazz album under the title ''For Saxophone Quartet'', which contains 7 of his arrangments for saxophone quartet. In 2012 he composed the musical fairy tale "A Country of Music" (published by Susaeta 2012) which became a theatrical performance and tours all over Greece. He orchestrates the collection of children's songs "Listen to Songs" for Susaeta publications and composes a second musical fairy tale, with the title "The Magical Sabadibidrophono" (published by Susaeta 2014), which also became a theater and tours. In 2016 he composed the music for "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare (Seven Eleven Theater Group directed by Notis Paraskevopoulos).
In 2017, he took over as the conductor Ilioupolis Municipal Brass Band and presented the original music-pedagogical event concert: ''Giant Steps: The Children Play Coltrane''. At the same time, he participates as artistic director in the EU-supported Introspection Music Experience program (www.ime- project.com), where he helps mental health recipients produce, record, publish and perform their own songs.
In 2021 he recorded his first collection of jazz dances under the title "Jazz Suite No. 1" .In 2023 he published together with the guitarist George Stavroulakis, a collection of jazz standards under the title Contradictions.
His own "Saxophone Method (a holistic approach to instrument teaching)", is under publication. It is an attempt to capture his methodology, philosophy, and experience in teaching music.
