Biography

Christine Hart and Paul Crocker perform as a jazz duo.
As a devout Jazz fan, Christine Hart brings a soothing jazz style to all your favorite jazz classics. Miss Hart's natural, playful style is reminiscent of legendary performers like Julie London and Peggy Lee. This sultry singer's background in piano, coupled with her instincts on timing and rhythms, allow her to improvise artistically, explore styles and have fun. Paul is a Toronto-based jazz pianist and composer. Since arriving in 2007, he has performed regularly throughout the city at ... such venues as the Toronto Centre for the Arts, the Rex, Jazz Bistro, Music Gallery, Reservoir Lounge, and countless others. He has been featured on Jazz.FM91, at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival, Canadian Music Week, NXNE, and has toured Canada, the United States and Mexico. Educated at York University in the jazz performance program, Paul has also studied extensively at the Royal Conservatory of Music and University of Toronto. He is on faculty at the University Settlement Music and Arts School and works regularly as pianist for Georgian College in Barrie and Orillia. In addition to his work in jazz, he also serves as a musical director at The Second City, where he performs frequently, as well as teaching musical improv workshops at the Second City Training Centre.
Christine also works with acclaimed pianist, Bruce Petherick:
Bruce Petherick is an internationally renowned musician, composer, educator and musicologist, originally from Melbourne, Australia, who now calls Canada home.
Bruce has mixed his love of classical music with his interest in jazz and other creative musics throughout his professional performing career. During the hey-day of the musical revival in Melbourne (1980s – 1990s) Bruce worked as a vocal coach, accompanist, music director and associate music director. He also worked as a repetiteur at the Victorian College of the Arts Opera school, that lead to performances with the Australian Opera and the Victorian State Opera.
Bruce has been a faculty member at Mount Royal University since 2008. He has taught in the General Education department, as well as being the accompanist for Dr. Reid Spencer’s vocal studio.
