Biography
I am an Italian saxophone player and composer born in Milan in 1989. I started to play saxophone when I was 8 years old together with classical guitar. At the Conservatoire G. Verdi in Milan I graduated in Classical Saxophone with a recital programme combining jazz and classical music (Phil Woods and Scelsi). In Italy, the curiosity of exploring different genres, brought me to play in folk ensembles, classical duos and quartets, a progressive rock band and a jazz duo. In particular, the passion for jazz brought me to London to study Jazz Saxophone at Trinity Laban. After completing a PGDip at ... Trinity Laban, where I greatly enriched my background, I finished in September 2020 my Master's at Goldsmiths University of London where a more open music path made me explore my own musical voice. At Goldsmiths, I studied jazz saxophone and arranging with Mick Foster and Paul Bartholomew, learning deeper the jazz language both from playing and composing/arranging. Moreover, I have founded the Betty Accorsi Quartet with other Goldsmiths music students with the aim of playing my own compositions. With the Betty Accorsi Quartet we released the album "The Cutty Sark Suite" on the 11th December 2020 after a very successful Kickstarter Campaign. I play also in an acoustic-jazz duo called “Sloth in the City” with the finger style guitarist Andrea Martelloni (Virgult).
