Biography
Born in Madison, WI, raised in New York City and Kenya, Ausar Amon started to play violin at age 12, while attending elementary school. He was self-taught for the first two years; he successfully auditioned for admission to the LaGuardia School of Performing Arts in New York City, where he completed his high school studies. Since then, he has studied with renowned musicians, such as David Nadien, the late concertmaster of the NY Philharmonic, Joseph Silverstein of the Curtis Institute, and Sherry Kloss, the master assistant to Jascha Heifetz. In May 2016, he completed his Bachelor of Arts degr ... ee, majoring in string performance at New York University Steinhardt, where he studied with Artist Faculty member Gregory Fulkerson. Ausar has performed in various settings in the US, Cuba, Kenya, and the UK. Ausar was awarded the prestigious Steinway Award at the Jascha Heifetz Symposium in June 2016 and performed his NYC recital debut in Steinway Hall in November 2016 to great acclaim. Ausar’s great zeal for all styles of music has led him into the pop, jazz and ethnic fields. In December 2016, Ausar accompanied Russian pop singer Sati Kazanova in various singles in a performance in London’s Asia House.
