Biography

Acoustiq Assassins are “storytelling musicians” whose acoustic yet alternative, NEW AGE sound could best be described as contemporary soul/indie R&B.
Born and bred in Pietermaritzburg, the trio are looking to play to the ears of the world!
The group originally consisted of four members in Siphesihle Bhengu, Junior Mazibuko, Gugu Mdladla and 2016 SA Idols winner Noma Khumalo who left the group after winning the competition.
Despite attending the same primary school - The Assassins journey is one that began by chance!
Despite being thrown into the deep end, the group is determined ... to leave an impact in not only the South African music industry, but in other parts of the world too.
Our music caters for a cosmopolitan audience with songs in IsiZulu and English. The group perform original works which is inspired by the likes of Tumi & The Volume, The Soil, Anderson PAAK, Fat Freddy’s Drop, The Script, Boyz II Men, Frank Ocean, Freshlyground and The Muffinz, allowing for a multifaceted and versatile performance.
“STRIPPED DOWN, RHYTHMIC & AUTHENTIC”, we perform very poetic , minimalistic music using guitars, a djembe drum and a keyboard as an accompaniment, creating room for the creative expression of our voices.
Acoustiq Assassins aim to make music that speaks more to the ears than the eyes and create music people like to listen to, music that lives longer, hence why heavy emphasis is put on the lyrical content of our songs. Our music is deliberate and intimate.
Our sound can be compared to timeous music produced in popular work, such as music from The Roots 2000 Project (Slique Angel & M.X.O), Floetry, 340ml, and India Arie.
Our music defines itself, with our voices and melodies speaking for those who are in love.
