Description

Social events bring families and friends together and a barn dance or ceilidh is the perfect way to get them mixing and having fun. We've been playing together for over 30 years, but we still get a buzz every time and we'd love to come and play for your event.
Many of our bookings are for weddings and family parties of one sort or another and we're very good at striking the balance between lively music to get everyone up and dancing and quieter intervals so that your guests can catch their breath. Our caller will quickly gauge the level of ability and experience of your guests and will adj ... ust the programme of dances accordingly so that everyone can relax and join in. He has a wide repertoire of dances from all over the UK and we have an extensive list of tunes to match them so whether your guests are young or old, experienced dancers or complete beginners there’ll be dances to suit. If there are dances or tunes you’d like included, let us know in case they’re not in our current repertoire.
When you book us you can rest easy knowing that we will arrive when we say we will, and set up quickly and efficiently. We’ll set the volume so that it’s loud enough for dancing, but not so loud that it prevents your guests from chatting. We'll come suitably dressed and ready to give our best for you and your guests. We take what we do very seriously and are professional in our approach, but our emphasis at your event is on fun and enjoyment for you and your guests.
The fee is for a 3 piece band, (2 musicians playing fiddle and melodeon and the caller). It is a fixed price and includes travel (up to 30 miles from Faversham. We may have to charge a little more if your venue is further away), sound system and all that's needed for the evening. We have public liability insurance and all our equipment is PAT tested.
We like to arrive an hour before the start time to set up our equipment and do a sound check. It usually takes us about 20 minutes to pack away at the end. For a booking of up to 2 hours we can play without an interval but if it’s over 2 hours we need a break of 30 minutes about half way through.
Let me know if you'd like to talk through your plans and ideas. We appreciate that there are lots of things that have to come together when you're planning an event and so we're happy to hold a date for you for 14 days while you sort things out. When you're ready you can make your booking and I'll send a contract for you to sign and return.

Set-List

Everyone can join in at a barn dance, from young children of 4 or 5 to seniors. If you can walk, you can dance, and our sets vary to meet the needs of each event and the guests. We tailor the dances according to the age ability and fitness levels of the dancers so that everyone can have a go if they want to and have a good time.

Biography

We formed the A2 Barn Dance Band in 1993 and are based in Faversham, Kent. Our line up has changed a little over the years but our sound has been consistent throughout, lively and rhythmic. Our current line up is John, who plays melodeon, Barbara on fiddle and Chris, our caller. However we can provide a bigger band if required.
We have all been involved with traditional music and dance for many years and continue to expand our repertoire of tunes and dances to keep things fresh.

We're all Musicians' Union or Equity members and we use the MU standard contract. We have public liability insurance and have our equipment regularly PAT tested.
