The Motor City Revue is an 11-piece band covering popular and rare Motown & Stax tunes, plus other rock and soul classics and striving for an authentic sound. Our band consists of a stellar cast of female and male vocalists, keyboard, guitar, bass, drums and a 5-piece horn section. The band is made up of some of the most talented live and studio musicians/singers in the NYC area. Whether it is a private or corporate event, theater or concert, MCR never fails to deliver a great show that will have your guests dancing and singing along!

Biography

Motor City Revue: Capturing the Distinct Motown Sound
A little more than half a century ago, a new sound took shape in and around Detroit that revolutionized the music industry. Today, the all-star Motor City Revue faithfully recreates that signature Motown sound…and, in the process, takes audiences on a journey back in time.
Although there are many bands that cover Motown tunes, few strive to match the vocal harmonies and instrumental mix that distinguished the original recordings. Motor City Revue was formed to offer music lovers an authentic tribute to the artists and songs that defi ... ned a generation.
Vocalist Layonne Holmes (Jon Bon Jovi & Kings of Suburbia, The New Standard, Bob Bandiera's Jersey Shore Rock 'n' Soul Revue) and Bassist/Musical Director Gerald Carboy (David Sancious & Tone and Barry Miles & Silverlight) enlisted some of Jersey's A-list musicians to respectfully pay homage to this world renowned sound.

I have seen or should I say witnessed your show several times, all at McCloones and once outdoors in Asbury last summer. Your show is electrifying and brings sheer pleasure and complete enjoyment to everyone present. The song recreations are amazingly accurate and even more entertaining with the elements you creatively add. The dance floor is packed as such beautiful memories are brought back to life while the feeling of pure joy prompts everyone to shake their best stuff.???? Honestly Layonne, there are other bands or groups that delve into that wonderful Motown Era however none can compare to what you bring to the stage. It’s the truth.
