Biography
STYLE
Gábor is able to move effortlessly between genres. He has performed in concert halls, jazz clubs, improvised a solo concert in a church, and played a classical piano battle in a boxing ring in a discotheque – just to mention a few of his special performances. He recently gave two concerts at the FINA swimming World championships in Budapest, Hungary, performed at the Culture Capital of Europe Events in Linz, Austria, at the Soho House and Collegium Hungaricum in Berlin, amongst solo performances around Europe – mostly in Hungary, Germany, Austria and Italy. ... Japan playing with Swansong trio in Shizuoka, Nagoya, Kyoto, Tokyo and Taketoyo. He played a solo piano concert in Budapest Jazz Club, toured with his trio in Germany in 2022, and has released 8! original albums since 2019.
BIO
1981: born in Budapest, Hungary
1991: first piano lessons, first classical, later jazz. Teachers: Tamás Kereskedő, Albin Leszkovszky, Zsolt Esze, János Nagy
2002: Resident pianist in Hotel Hilton Budapest
2005: Graduates Budapest University of Technology, starts working as a full time musician and teacher. Plays in different bands, from trip-hop through jazz and electronic.
2006: Starts his first own band, Silence Factory that fuses jazz with electronic music. Releases self-titled debut album.
2009: Releases his first solo piano album "Towards the centre" that contains improvisations.
2010-2014: Moves to Berlin, Germany. Forms "Swansong" trio with japanese bassist Noriaki Hosoya, that plays modern European "ECM" style jazz. Also features as a producer on different artist' albums, releases the album "The Blue" with Hungarian singer Youli - this album gets recognised as album of the month by then popular New York based collective "Giant Steps".
Releases a live solo piano concert recording made of improvisations on audience given titles as "Live in CHB"
2014-2019: Moves back to Budapest, plays as a cruise ship musician around the world mainly for Holland America Lines, performing in solo, and in the showband. Does 10 contracts on Holland America Lines, 1 on P and O.
2019: Releases third solo piano album "Open Doors". Releases trio album with "Swansong" on Hunnia Records. Performs the album with his trio in Japan in 4 main cities: Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya and Shizuoka. Performs a solo concert in Taketoyo, Japan which is later released as a bootleg recording.
Wins best soundtrack prize at the Bujtor film festival for his score of the documentary "Egodetox".
2020: Releases funk and synthetizer influenced album "Funkventure". Performs a solo piano concert at the Budapest Jazz Club.
2021: Releases a brazilian jazz-funk album called "Halsütő" with his brother, Gyula Csordás.
2021: Joins band of top5 hungarian female pop singer Zséda.
2022: Releases contemporary jazz trio album “Chasing a dream” in DSD and digital formats with Vince Bartók and Tamás Hidász
2022: Joins Jukebox Rock band with American singer-guitarist Preston Coe.
2022: Tours Hungary with “Swansong” trio, recording a live and a studio album.
2022: Releases contemporary jazz trio album “Turbulence” in DSD and digital formats from a live concert with Noriaki Hosoya and Marty Risemberg
2022: Releases contemporary jazz trio album “Do Swans fly?” in DSD and digital formats from a studio session with Noriaki Hosoya and Marty Risemberg
2022: Releases live trio album : "On the Rhodes again", where he is playing the Fender Rhodes electric piano.
